Using an independent mortgage advisor not only gives you access to a wider market and help you find the right deal, but they can also offer valuable support at every stage of the house buying process.
Linear mortgage advisor Sara-May McKinnon recently helped a struggling first time buyer from start to finish in less than a month. Here’s her story:
“I met a lady who was very distressed over her recent experience trying to get a mortgage. She was a first time buyer, had been looking for properties for ages and every time she went to offer she was told it was no longer available. She was also struggling to find properties she liked.
“After meeting with me, I identified the problem and offered to help her find a home. I searched on websites for suitable properties and emailed them over to her. She told me the ones she liked and I booked viewings for her. She viewed one on the Sunday and I contacted the agent on the Monday to make an offer on her behalf.
“I saved her £5,000 off the asking price.
“I then sourced solicitors for her and also a fantastic mortgage deal. She was so happy she had met me – and even said if she hadn’t met me she would never have found the house she is now currently buying. She just wasn’t looking in the right places.”
A quick and stress free process
Sara-May continues: “This lady is now a trusted client of mine and extremely happy compared to when I first met her! I met her on the 7 January 2020, offered on 13 January (which was accepted that day), I signed her up to the mortgage and insurances on the 20th and the mortgage offer was issued on the 28th of that month.
“As an independent mortgage advisor, I don’t just do mortgages and insurances. I go the extra mile to help my client find a home, save money on the home, get a fab mortgage deal and protect them and the property as well as help with solicitors. I take all the stress away so the client can just concentrate on moving in.”
Don’t lose sleep over your finances
Linear advisor Kylie-Ann Gatecliffe (of KAG Financial Solutions) recently helped a woman who was struggling to pay her mortgage.
She said: “I recently looked after a client who had been losing sleep for a few months. She had run up a large amount of debt and was struggling.
“Her minimum payments were not reducing her balances as her interest was so high. In the end, we re-mortgaged her to a new lender offering a better rate and managed to raise enough funds to repay her existing debts. We saved her a huge £1,834 a month.
“She rang me in tears when her mortgage offer came through and she is now sleeping again knowing she can afford her repayments and stay in her home.”
